About everyone saying they were left with 1hp in PvP

Am I the only one who noticed that degen seems to take more life when you are at 200+ then when you are below 100. I also seem to notice my hp bar stay on 1hp longer then it does on 5-2. And perhaps 5 times longer then on 100+ numbers.
From this logic, you have more chances to lose your degen on 1hp then ,say, 250hp.

About max mods, because almost every game ask that you get good equipment if you want to survive the next boss. In GW that only means armor and weapon dmg (for the classes that care about weapon dmg), but I guess most people apply this logic to mods too.
The difference with a game like WoW is that in GW those mods are easy to get, so why pay when you know you can have a strictly better version soon. In others games you can know you will play with that near-perfect-equipment long enough to be worth buying it.

And, let's face it, if you spent time on forums or wiki, you know what is the max for a mod, and you will feel like they look better, so you go for them.

Then the people who play by themselves (generally classified as "noobs" for their lack of game knowledge), probably wont have the money or not see the need.
Those who don't care about their equipment untill they NEED better weapon to continue (and they probably never feel that need untill they start doing serious pvp), will not fell the need untill they start to use them (probably throught greens or PVP character)
Those that feel like it's not worth paying for it and will work for them (/raise hand! My case), will just not buy it and get a perfect/near-perfect and play with it untill they feel the need to have a perfect weapon.

For PvE equipment, I couldn't care less about +1hp. I save money and if I die, I ain't gonna blame the mods. XD

For PvP, there's no point in not using a perfect mod, unless you are just starting to play and haven't unlocked the mods you need yet.

I think the reason perfect mods are so sought after in PvE is because of control+click.

Who cares what you run in PvE?

In PvP, if you don't want to have to buy perfect equipment, roll a PvP char.

It's simple, really.

In PVP I've been down to 1 hp. yea it was AB or something like that, but the +1 makes a difference sometimes.

People do buy the +29 hp mods all the time, simply to save some money untill they can afford perfect mods.

The problem is the perfect mods have become very easy to find/buy so most people can afford them.

* Not really sure this IS a problem......

When your bags and in turn the market is overflowing with max equipment, the better question is why are people using less than perfect mods?

Whats the point? Everything is so damn cheap now its stupid not to just buy the perfect mods.

I'd understand if you said this back when +30 sword forts where over 100k each. Now absolutely not.

In PvE there's no difference whether you have everything absolute perfect or you use random bad selffound purples.

And in PvP apparently the difference between +29 and +30 is also impossible to be noticed. People think of that 1hp as a life saver, but at the same time use swords/axes for caster weapons instead of spears, which are able to hit that RoF on a spike and result in a 100dmg difference by just a quick T+space.
(of course there's no reason to using something imperfect in PvP anyway)
This game is all about Skill+Teamwork+Build advantage, equipment differences don't generate visible advantage. It's the use of the equipment that matters, like swapping the sets right.

Why not?

The point of Skill > Equipment only works becuase everything is balanced. Balanced means everything has the same stats. By common sense, you're going to get the best you can, so same stats means as good as you can get. Therefore everyone has the same gear, so only skill matters.

Ergo, perfect equipment = balanced = Skill > Equipment.

Though in my case it's becuase I like nice round numbers in my health bar.

I'd say it's the same reason why people buy prestige armors/weapon skins.

There's not much left to do after you beat the game so, getting perfect stuff is what some people choose to do (me included).

If I want to to buy some mods to use, I'd buy the usable ones with reasonable prices (like, 1k for +29 and stuff). Otherwise, perfect stuff only please.

so u really think equipment matters that much? yeah a player wit 29hp is obviously going to be better than a player with 30 hp right? *rollseyes* its up to preferences. do not drag skill into this. ppl can do whatever they want.

It's kinda like running 11 in an attribute and 12 in an attribute... you must have 12!

Another part of that is the predetermination of battles via gear, which isn't huge in Guild Wars. Obviously, swapping to a Fire +AL helps if you're facing Conjure Flame, but forgetting that isn't going to ensure your loss.

I sort of hate going 12-9-9 with one of the 9's primary and one secondary, because then I will either have to find an excuse not to use a rune, or look at 12-10-9 in my skill panel.

My OCD tendencies, let me show you them.

Why would anyone wanna gimp themselves with sub-par (aka "non-perfect") crap gear. Sure you can "win" with it. But you can also "win" with no weapons and no armor by flagging your heroes/henchies around and never ever engaging any enemies at all. So the fact that you can "win" with crap sub-par gear is hardly a good reason to gimp yourself with it. There is no reason to ever gimp yourself like that. Which is why almost no one ever does.

I do use imperfect mods. They're forever dropping as +29s, 19%s etc, and if I need a mod, an imperfect one will typically do.

But I won't ever buy an imperfect mod from another player. Once I've decided that I'm going to the effort of trading, I go for the perfect so I don't need to do it again later.

I used to have a bunch of 13^50, +25hp, +4 AL, +17% enchantment and stuff like that.

I slowly replaced then with better stuff when I find them. Even now, I believe that my heroes get at least a 14^50, +28hp and so on.
